Copacabana is a small Bolivian town that sits right on the largest lake in South America, Lake Titicaca. The town is the main access point for boat travel to Isla del Sol, the island that, according to Incan religion, was the birthplace of the sun god.
Copacabana is also known for its basilica—Basilica of Our Lady of Copacabana. Built in the sixteenth century, it is still considered sacred to Catholics. Many Bolivians travel to Copacabana for religious celebrations and festivals.
