Trinidad, on the southern coast of Cuba in the Caribbean Sea, was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1988. Walking over the cobblestone streets or riding in a horse-drawn carriage, you can see beautifully restored pastel-colored homes, stately churches, picturesque plazas, and tiled courtyards dating from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The city’s lovely architecture is made even more beautiful by its natural location, nestled between the coast and the Topes de Collantes Mountains.
