Punta Bonita Beach, Dominican Republic

The coastline of the Dominican Republic is home to some of the most magnificent beaches in the world. To mention a few, on the southern Caribbean coast are the quiet Bayahibe Beach and the more active La Minitas Beach. On the eastern tip of the island are the Punta Cana beaches, which face both the Atlantic and the Caribbean. This area, with its many alluring beaches and activities, is one of the most popular resort areas of the island. On the northern coast, bordering the Atlantic Ocean, is Puerto Plata Beach, whose coral reefs make for excellent scuba diving and snorkeling. A little farther east is Cabarete Beach, popular for water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing (or kiteboarding). Kitesurfing involves riding on a board that is pulled by a kite guided by the wind. Sound like fun? Still farther east is the Samaná Peninsula, a wonderful place to find a variety of beaches and activities. Bonita Beach and Las Terrenas Beach, on the northern side of the peninsula, attract surfers because of their gigantic waves. Other water activities on the Samaná Peninsula include scuba diving, whale watching, and caving.
